Microscopy Images (20x enlarged), showing treated pieces of oil palm wood. The OPT (Oil Palm Trunks) were felled, cut into boards and kiln-dried and then cut and planed using special Leitz tools. The used parts were low density material from the inner part (density 210) of the stem. Depending on the kind of tools that were used, the dark vascular bundles have been ripped out of the surface or could be smoothly planed. The sawing can also be done very nicely, cutting the vascular bundles very sharp, even leaving the inner structures undestroyed.
